Original Lyrics
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
蟻地獄で逢いましょう
I LOVE YOU! I NEED YOU!
時限爆弾を背負って夢見る僕は丸裸
あなたに幸あれ 骨まで愛して 指きりしたいんだ
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO!
GO! GO! 赤裸々 GO! GO! GO!

Translated Lyrics
With burning lips, on a melancholic and barefoot kind of night
You can kiss me from the tips of my fingers to the end of the world
Love is nearly dead
It’s disappearing into my heart
Love is nearly dead
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
Though I’m making a face that seems as pure
As a flower petal
I actually prefer a sharp caress, like the pervert I am
Love is nearly dead
It’s disappearing into my heart
Love is nearly dead
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
I love you! I need you!
I dream while carrying a time bomb, and am completely nude
I wish you the best of luck, I love you down to my very bones, and I want to make a pinky promise together
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go! Go!
Go! Go! Nudity, go! Go!
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit
Notes
This was the B-side on the “Kanashiki Asian Boy” single (released on 02/21/1994, not very long before the album), which was the only single from Jaguar Hard Pain. And though it’s not the most stand out song for a B-side, it has a unique enough sound to to justify itself as being a good choice for one. Keeping with a theme of the album, it introduces yet another new sound that we would never really hear from Yemon again: Surf rock. It’s their own version of surf rock though (musically, the funky keyboard is the star), complete with lyrics that dabble in both the common and the strange.
When asked about the choice of “Sekirara” as the B-side in an interview after the singles’ release, Yoshii mentioned that it showed another side of the band:
I actually wanted to make the single just an A-side, thinking that it was better to just push a single song. But I put “Sekirara Go! Go! Go” on there, thinking it would be giving people a taste of the “other side of The Yellow Monkey”. And I liked the way both songs looked together in the title, it’s very The Yellow Monkey.
Of particular note in the lyrics is the play on the usual “kiss you from (some point on the body) to (another point on the body)” with “the end of the world” being the end point. And what significance an ant lion larva’s nest has, I have absolutely no idea! For those of you who have memories of it from Final Fantasy 4, yes, an Ant Lion is definitely a thing (though it doesn’t look much like it did in FF4), and it has a nest. I assume Yoshii was just picking a weird phrase that he liked the sound of, and that it doesn’t have any particular significance. Maybe he wanted something with the word “jigoku” (“Hell” when just used on its own) in it, but with slightly more syllables? He does specifically call it out as having replaced what was previously an English lyric though:
For example, the title of our 11/1993 concert at Nakano Sun Plaza featured the phrase “arijigoku ni aimashou” (“Let’s meet in an ant lion larva’s pit”) (a lyric from “Sekirara”). But at first that lyric was something in English. Changing it into Japanese really tightened up the song. I guess I prefer Japanese after all when it comes to the way it’s used.
It’s also worth mentioning that the word “sekirara” is a bit more nuanced than my translation would make it seem. It’s often used to indicate frankness, like in the phrase “the naked truth” (sekirara na shinjitsu). Just used on its own though, it’s a bit tougher to translate with that kind of a nuanced meaning. And for any wondering, I’m not quite sure what Yoshii shouts at the beginning of the song. It doesn’t appear in the lyrics booklet, and I haven’t really seen anyone online taking a guess at what it is either.
And since this is on Jaguar Hard Pain, you always have to be asking yourself “How is this song about Jaguar?”. There aren’t as many direct threads to his character as there are in most of the other songs on the album. It seems like it might be a telling of his ups and downs with love and relationships: One moment love seems like it’s about to die, and then the next moment it’s all just about getting that next sexual experience. This lines up pretty well with the behavior that we’ve seen out of him so far, at least.
Sekirara Go! Go! Go! was on a good amount of set-lists up through the middle part of their career, but hasn’t appeared on too many afterward. It was played during the Jaguar Hard Pain tour (1994), Four Seasons tour (1995/1996), Sicks tour (1997), and the Super FC Party 2017 -Drastic Holiday- fan club event. It’s a fun enough song to see performed live though, with Yoshii often running from one side of the stage to another when he shouts “I love you! I need you!” during the solo.
